I am excited to announce an ongoing series where I talk to female founders from different industries. We will talk about their company, but mostly, you will get to know them as humans. Sounds fun? I thought so!

My first guest of the Female Founder Series is Abigail Barnes.

Abi is the Co-Founder & CEO of Amulet. Amulet shines a light on invisible threats in our food for a safer and healthier world and it’s signature consumer wearable Allergy Amulet alerts people to allergens in their food.

She was named to Business Insider's 2019 100 Coolest People in Food and Drink. She’s the author of two guidebooks on corporate social responsibility she wrote with Patagonia—An Entrepreneur's Guide to Certified B Corporations & Benefit Corporations and co-author of A Legislative Guide to Benefit Corporations: Create Jobs, Drive Social Impact, and Promote the Economic Health of Your State. The Economist recognized her as a legal expert for her research on privatized water regulation in China. She’s been published in several well-known periodicals including Forbes and The Atlantic.

She holds a JD from Vermont Law School, a master’s degree in Environmental Management from Yale University.

In this episode, we talk about

  • starting your own company,

  • trends in leadership styles,

  • sacrifices female founders make,

  • intuition, and

  • overturning Roe vs. Wade.
